Daddy Bruce Foundation creates Tamara Banks Media Excellence Award
The first Daddy Bruce Randolph Legacy Foundation’s "Tamara Banks Media Excellence Award", was given in 2019 to Ms. Tamara Banks for her dedicated effort in convincing her network (then Denver’s Channel 2) to report on the story concerning the closing of the Annual Daddy Bruce Thanksgiving Feeding event held since 1963. In doing so, it caused organizations in Denver to step up and continue the Daddy Bruce Thanksgiving Feeding, which now feeds over 50,000 people annually.
The “Tamara Banks Media Excellence Award” is awarded to journalists, reporters or media personalities, who exhibit all or many of the following characteristics: those who passionately investigate to reveal the truth of suppressed or hidden stories to ensure they are not overlooked, those who risk personal endangerment in order to present unbiased information, and those who are not afraid to tell the story through the lens of honesty no matter the cost.
NOTE: Tamara was featured in the film Keep A Light in Your Window about the life of entrepreneur and philanthropist Daddy Bruce Randolph: https://www.pbs.org/video/keep-a-light-in-your-window-9n4kb7/
If Daddy Bruce Randolph were still with us, he would have been 121 years old.
